Evidence-based teaching and student-centered instruction help educators adapt instruction to student needs and capabilities, promote active and collaborative learning, improve student engagement, and more easily support learners with timely and personalized feedback. This workshop is designed to center student success.

This faculty experience is geared toward all educators who seek resources and support for designing, facilitating, and assessing quality instruction within inclusive digital learning environments across modalities, including online, blended, hybrid, and digitally enhanced face-to-face experiences. It is particularly suited to assist faculty and instructional support staff in better understanding learners’ specific and unique needs as well as strategies for best meeting those needs.

Learning Objectives

  • Discover the evidence-based instructional practices that most contribute to student success in gateway courses and how pairing evidence-based teaching with high-quality digital tools can personalize learning for every student.
  • Recognize and learn to use the evidence-based teaching practices that promote active learning, support collaboration in blended and online learning environments, and improve engagement of students with instructors and peers.
  • Choose the evidence-based instructional practices that put the needs of college students at the center of the learning experience. Plan for the redesign of a module or course using evidence-based teaching strategies.
