Every Learner Everywhere advocates for equitable outcomes in U.S. higher education through advances in digital learning.

Our mission is to help institutions use new technology to innovate teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of improving student outcomes for Black, Latino, and Indigenous students, poverty-affected students, and first-generation students.


Every Learner Everywhere is a network of partner organizations with expertise in evaluating, implementing, scaling, and measuring the efficacy of education technologies, curriculum and course design strategies, teaching practices, and support services that personalize instruction for students in blended and online learning environments.


Our collaborative work to advance equity in higher education centers on the transformation of postsecondary teaching and learning. We build capacity in colleges and universities to improve student outcomes with digital learning through direct technical assistance, timely resources and toolkits, and ongoing analysis of institution practices and market trends.


Every Learner Everywhere embraces eight equity principles.

These principles reflect our collective understanding of systemic racism in education and guide decisions about our work.

With Our Network Partners:

  1. We articulate in our work a specific focus on racial equity and equity for poverty-affected students.
  2. We pursue equity in optimistic, anti-deficit, and sustainable ways.
  3. We consistently reflect on our biases and positionalities, seek input on our actions and unintended contradictions, hold ourselves accountable for improvement, and strengthen our skills.
  4. We critically analyze and aim to continuously improve the systems, structures, cultures, policies, and processes affecting education.

With Colleges and Universities:

  1. We focus on quantitative outcomes and on qualitative understandings of students’ experiences.
  2. We disaggregate data to the finest point possible, and resist the erasure of Native American, Asian American, and Pacific Islander students.
  3. We broaden the participation of people, partners, and perspectives to reflect the equity that students and their institutions deserve.
  4. We position poverty-affected and Black, Latino, and Indigenous students, as well as those who share their lived experiences, as equity experts.

Partners with postsecondary institutions to catalyze change in digital teaching and learning, student advising, student pathways, and capacity building.

Provides equity-centered professional development and coaching services for educators, administrators, and support staff in higher education.

Digital Promise

Develops continuous improvement processes and supports for digital learning implementations.


Provides professional development for IT and teaching professionals, and research on perspectives and practices of students and faculty.

Hispanic Educational Technology Services

Partners with member institutions to guide the implementation of targeted services and programs to enhance Hispanic/Latino student access, retention, and success in higher education through the strategic integration of technology.

Intentional Futures

Supports the network’s development and delivery of resources and tools.

Online Learning Consortium

Surfaces digital learning innovations and provides professional development for ID and teaching professionals focused on blended and online learning.

Quality Education for Minorities

Supports the capacity building of minority serving institutions and faculty who serve underrepresented students in STEM as well as systems change work in education.

Tyton Partners

Conducts market research to track the supplier ecosystem, institutional perspectives and progress, and help guide the network’s strategy and service offerings.

Meet Our Team

Karen Cangialosi

Karen Cangialosi


Dr. Karen Cangialosi joined Every Learner Everywhere in June 2023. As a dedicated Professor of Biology and student advocate for many years, Karen found her way to Open Education which she sees as especially powerful for helping to bring about what she sees as much needed larger-scale change in higher education. She has gained national recognition for leadership in Open Education, STEM education, faculty development, innovative and digital pedagogies, and authentic student-centered learning and she brings these experiences and perspectives to help shape networking for numerous communities. Prior to joining Every Leaner, Karen served as the director of membership for Open Education Global , as well as the program director for Regional Leaders of Open Education Network (RLOE), a project of Open Education Global and The Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER), working to reimagine leadership, shift institutional power to marginalized communities, and promote systemic change for open education and higher education more broadly. She is a co-founder of the RIOS Institute for a Racially Just, Inclusive and Open STEM Education where she served as director of open education and open science. Karen holds a doctorate in zoology from Miami University, a master’s degree in biological sciences from the University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She lives with her partner in Florence, MA and enjoys participating in and organizing LGBTQ community events, playing guitar, harmonica or bass in music jams, kayaking, hiking and biking.

Associate Director

Laura DaVinci joined the Every Learner team in June 2018. As the Associate Director for Every Learner Everywhere, she has the opportunity to work with a strong network of partners committed to improving educational outcomes through technology-enhanced education. Laura has dedicated her career to improving educational outcomes for first-generation, poverty-affected, and racially minoritized students through innovative approaches and grant-funded programs. She has worked in higher education and nonprofits supporting education since 2005 and is a strong advocate for the power of education in students’ lives. Her leadership and supervisory roles have included Associate Director, Project Director, Grants Manager, Academic Services Coordinator, and Computer Science Adjunct Faculty. She excels at new program development, innovative approaches that include a digital aspect, and managing complex projects across multiple organizations or stakeholders. Her grants portfolio included working with the US Department of Education, the US Department of Labor, the National Science Foundation, multiple state departments, the Gates Foundation, and the European Commission on international educational grants across multiple European countries. She earned her MBA from Eastern New Mexico University, and her Bachelor’s degree in International Business in Romania. Laura is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Leadership with an equity focus from Virginia Commonwealth University. Laura lives outside of Richmond, VA with her husband. They enjoy traveling, camping, hiking, and biking.

Norma Hollebeke

Norma Hollebeke

Senior Manager, Network Programs and Services

Norma Hollebeke joined Every Learner Everywhere in 2020. She has been an advocate for innovation and transformation in higher education for over 20 years with a proven track record as a developer and director of national model STEM and online programs. Prior to joining Every Learner, Norma was in the private sector as a STEM and digital learning consultant and led the development of a new distance learning product line at a science education supply company. She served the Colorado Community College System as Associate Dean of Science for CCCOnline. As a tenured professor at Sinclair Community College, she was the PI for the Dayton Urban STEM Academy, Biomedical Sciences Affiliate Director for Project Lead the Way-Ohio and was part of the pioneering team for online biology courses. She earned her BS and MS from University of Texas at El Paso and conducted research at University of Toronto. In her spare time, she hikes the Rocky Mountains and volunteers with the Denver Area Boy Scout Council.

Emilie Cook

Emilie Cook

Manager, Digital Marketing and Communications

Emilie Cook joined Every Learner Everywhere in April 2021 and is currently the manager, digital marketing and communications. With 15 years of experience in corporate, university, small business, agency, and non-profit marketing, Emilie brings vast knowledge and expertise with a steadfast commitment to equitable digital learning in higher education. In addition to her Every Learner Everywhere role, Emilie served as an adjunct instructor for the Salisbury University Perdue School of Business, where she taught marketing and implemented adaptive courseware. Emilie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from Dickinson College, and a Master of Science in Marketing from the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School. Outside of work, Emilie enjoys spending time with her husband Jason, son Benjamin, and daughter Adelaide Mae in Bethany Beach, Delaware, where they reside. She and her family savor the beach life and all that it offers.

Patricia O’Sullivan

Patricia O’Sullivan

Manager, Content Development and Special Projects

Patricia O’Sullivan joined the Every Learner Everywhere team in September 2020. In her role as Manager of Content Development and Special Projects, she works within the network and with institutions to develop, update, and curate digital resources. She also works with the Manager of Digital Marketing and Communications in maintaining Every Learner’s Resource Library and in managing Every Learner’s Student Intern Program. O’Sullivan began her career as a high school teacher in Worcester, Massachusetts. O’Sullivan served as a student advisor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and at the School of Business Administration at the University of Mississippi (UM). She has worked at the University of Mississippi since 2002 as an instructor, instructional designer, faculty development specialist, and manager of national grant programs for adaptive courseware and open pedagogy. Her lifetime love of literature and history led O’Sullivan to writing and publishing four novels of historical fiction and two contemporary young adult novels. She holds a B.A. in Communications from UMass Amherst, an M.A. in Theology from Assumption College, an M.A. in history from the University of Mississippi, and certificate programs in instructional design and storytelling for social impact from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Georgetown University.

Jenni Atwood

Manager, Grants, Contracts and Finance

Jenni Atwood joined Every Learner Everywhere in 2022. In her role, she leads contract, financial & grant administration for all ELE projects. In addition to extensive project management experience, she is also a book editor and is a regular panel chair and federal grant reviewer for various federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. She holds a Masters’ degree in Global Studies from the University of North Carolina and a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management from Regis University. Jenni is passionate about elevating issues surrounding invisible disabilities such as Sjogren’s, one of the most common, and yet most undiagnosed, autoimmune diseases in the United States.

Joyce Holliday

Joyce Holliday

Administrative Assistant

Joyce earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Colorado State University and has 25 years of experience in administration. Joyce recently earned a Professional Certification of Excellence with the American Society of Administrative Professionals. She previously worked for the University of Colorado–Boulder for 22 years. Outside of work, she keeps busy with her Angora show rabbits, grooming them and attending shows across the country. Joyce uses the fiber from her angoras and alpacas to spin and make various fiber art creations.

Every Learner’s founding partners were selected based on existing relationships with the network’s primary funder and the partners’ subject matter expertise, field experience, and commitment to quality and equity. As our focus expands, we expect to grow the breadth and depth of organizations in the network.
