Teaching the whole student means designing classrooms that prepare students to be technical experts and also to be good citizens in the world. Join us for an insightful webinar exploring what it means to teach the whole student in today’s educational landscape. Our featured presenters, Dr. Bryan Dewsbury, an experienced introductory STEM instructor, and Dr. Dharma Dailey, a science education researcher, will delve into the scholarship and the praxis of humanist approaches in the classroom, emphasizing how digitally-enabled, evidence-based teaching practices can foster both academic excellence and personal growth.

Discover how educators can design digital learning environments that not only equip students with technical expertise but also prepare them to be thoughtful, engaged citizens. Through a blend of research and real-world examples, this session will highlight strategies for fostering both academic excellence and ethical responsibility in STEM education. By embedding evidence-based and humanistic practices into digital pedagogy, educators can help students develop critical thinking, ethical awareness, and the social and emotional skills needed to thrive as responsible global citizens. Whether you are an educator, administrator, or education researcher, this webinar will offer valuable perspectives on integrating humanist principles into your teaching practice.

Visiting Associate Professor | Linfield University>

Dr. Christine Latulippe is a Visiting Associate Professor at Linfield University. Throughout her faculty experiences at a public Hispanic-serving institution and at a private liberal arts college, Christine has promoted equity and worked to advance inclusive excellence, facilitating learning that applies to and enriches the lives of preservice and in-service teachers alike. Many students have never known how strong their mathematical skills are because they were never given permission to share their own strategies and come to their own understanding of mathematical concepts. Christine strives to change that experience, allowing for student success and opening doors to populations who may not have yet recognized themselves as part of higher education communities.
