Redefining Student Success through Data-Informed Instruction and Activating Prior Knowledge

  • September 17, 2025 | 2:00 PM ET

As instructors, how do we use what we know about our students—both from the data and from their lived experiences—to help them learn more effectively? While student success is shaped by a complex interplay of factors—ranging from institutional support to individual student circumstances—instructors hold a unique position of influence to enhance student outcomes.

This interactive webinar explores how faculty can transform their instructional practices by integrating data-informed strategies with the intentional activation of students’ prior knowledge. By leveraging learning analytics, formative assessments, and classroom data, educators can identify learning gaps, recognize diverse learning pathways, and personalize instruction to meet students where they are. Participants will examine practical strategies for designing inclusive, digitally-enabled, evidence-based learning environments that draw upon what students already know and connect it to new learning in meaningful ways. Through real-world examples, guided reflection, and collaborative discussion, faculty will leave this session equipped to:

  • Interpret and apply classroom-level data to guide instruction and support student agency.
  • Use digital tools to design activities and prompts that surface and honor prior knowledge.
  • Align teaching practices with a holistic vision of student success centered on student’s prior knowledge, relevance, and learner empowerment.

Join us to redefine what student success looks like—and how faculty can shape it—through intentional, data-informed, and student-centered teaching.

Dr. Christine Latulippe

Visiting Associate Professor | Linfield University>

Dr. Christine Latulippe is a Visiting Associate Professor at Linfield University. Throughout her faculty experiences at a public Hispanic-serving institution and at a private liberal arts college, Christine has promoted equity and worked to advance inclusive excellence, facilitating learning that applies to and enriches the lives of preservice and in-service teachers alike. Many students have never known how strong their mathematical skills are because they were never given permission to share their own strategies and come to their own understanding of mathematical concepts. Christine strives to change that experience, allowing for student success and opening doors to populations who may not have yet recognized themselves as part of higher education communities.
